- Board’s letter No. 2022/E(W)/01/08/1 dated 17.05.2023.
- Board’s letter No. 2026/E(W)/01/09/6 dated 30.07.2026.
The issue of permitting travel in higher Class of Rajdhani/Duronto/Shatabdi Express type trains on Privilege Passes (PP)/Post Retirement Complimentary Passes (PRCP)/Widow Passes (WP) by paying the difference of fare as per Rule 3(x) of Schedule-II of Railway Servants (Pass) Rules 1986 (Second Edition-1993) [RSPR-1986], as already available in Mail/Express type trains, has been examined in consultation with Commercial (PM) Directorate of Railway Board. It has been observed that there is no restriction in RSPR-1986 on applicability of Rule-3(x) of Schedule-II of RSPR-1986 in premium trains viz. Rajdhani/Duronto/Shatabdi Express trains. Accordingly, it is clarified that PP/PRCP/WP holders may travel in a Class higher than the entitled Class in premium trains, by paying the applicable difference of fare.
2. Keeping in view the above as well as clarification issued vide Board’s letter cited under Ref. (ii) & (iii) above, the revised travel entitlements are enclosed as Annexure-I and Annexure-II. This supersedes all previous instructions regarding travel entitlement on Passes/PTOs.
3. CRIS/PRS and CRIS/HRMS are advised to make necessary modifications in the PRS and e-Pass Module of HRMS, respectively, on immediate basis.
4. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
