Observance of UN DAY – Elimination of violence against women all across India by AIRF on 26.11.2015

Women’s wing of NRMU observed the International Day for the Elimination of Violence and Harassment against Women from 24th to 26th Nov 2015 as 25th Nov 2015 was Public Holiday in Northern Region of INDIA. Several programme   were organised to give the message to say NO to Violence and don’t remain silent about violence against Women.

International day to elimination of violence and harassment day was observed on 26th Nov 2015 by women’s wing of Accounts Division/NRMU Traffic Accounts Office State Entry Road New Delhi. A Solidarity March was organized to create awareness to BREAK THE SILENCE AGAINST VIOLENCE AND HARASSMENT. The campaign was joined by all together men, women employees, officers to Stop Violence and Harassment. The sensitivity of the issue and its replication were discussed in length by Jaya Agarwal convener AIRF/Women’s Wing she also explained the global sensitivity of the issue with coded the live example of Nermin-Al-sharif Libyan Trade Unionists who was shot while driving. Nermin is now safe but this is yet another example of why we need to take action to end the violence against women. further Seema Kahar Youth representative submitted her view to explain the theme of our today’s campaign ARISE AND SHINE ,she shared the true story of acid attack survivor Laksmi in support with all women survivors of violence.
Ms Preeti Jha FA&CAO/T Northern Railway appreciated this initiate taken by women wings of NRMU/Accounts Division women’s wing and she said that this powerful team should carry the responsibility further in the wider society and also ensured that she is always there to fight with issues of violence and harassment. A badge was distributed among volunteers support AIRF campaign to zero tolerance against violence and harassment. This was given by FA&CAO/T showed pleasure to first one to wear this badge and followed by 50 employees. The campaign was successfully meets its ends with support of MS Manju Kiran, Sadhana ,Renu Malhotra, Sunita Rani, Kailash, Anuradha, Satish Chand Gupta, Akash, Sankalp Punj, Rakesk, Mahesh, Satish etc.


 Another programme was observed on 26 Nov. 2015 by women’s wing of A/cs Div./NRMU at HD. Qr. Baroda House.
The importance of this day and the sensitivity of the topic was discussed by Sonia Hasija Zonal Treasurer of women’s wing/NRMU giving examples of women harassment and how they can be dealt and also gave them the assurance that our solidarity is our strength which will help us in sorting out any kind of harassment faced by any of us. Accounts Officer Mrs. Narender Kaur & Mrs. Sunita Suri SSO Mrs. Ritu Manjari & Mrs.Pooja from youth brigade Rashi & Ranju also shared their views on the same issue.
SSO Ritu Manjari also stressed on meditation in order to overcome negativity. Each lady lit a candle in order to take an oath saying that I take a pledge that I would fight injustice and would take the path of honesty without any fear. We would fight in solidarity against any case of violence and also update myself with the latest laws passed on women issues.
Shortly a lawyer would be called to address the ladies on latest information on women’s issues &laws passed to deal them.

Other programmes were also held at Lucknow DRM office under leadership of divisional secretary R.K. Pandey and Vice president NRMU Harjeet Kaur, Saroj Dixit, Sadhna the message of importance of solidarity was widely spread among huge number of gathering. It is also informed that awareness programme were conducted at Varanasi, Raibarelli, Moradabad, Haridwar, Shahjahanpur, Ambala, Chandigarh, Firozepur, Jammu, Kalka and Delhi area for Zero Tolerance against violence and harassment.
