ALL INDIA RAILWAYMEN’S FEDERATION – International Women’s Day 2019’
International Women’s Day is a time to reflect to endorse our presence in this world of work. It is also an opportunity to consider visibility of women in the Changing world of work, we are there 50-50 on the planet hence this is the right time for asking of Balance for better to Change and build momentum for the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, to achieve gender equality and empower all women.
It highlights on to call the masses or yourself to put efforts to make a more gender inclusive world. In view of above, ITF has taken initiative to spread the message of equality through theme for IWD-2019 ‘This Is Our World Too’ and ‘Balance for Better’ to secure women Transport Workers’ Rights and equality. The theme focuses to achieve gender equality, empowerment and Human rights of all working women in Transport sector around the world. AIRF also feels responsibility to share their contribution in the support for an international labour organization (ILO) convention to be held Geneva in June 2019 on violence and harassment in the world of work. On the occasion of IWD-2019 General Secretary AIRF Shiva Gopal Mishra issued a letter to the Minister of labour/ Minister of women and child is written to extend their support in establishing a new set of ILO standards on violence and harassment in the world of work General
The affiliates of All India Railway Men’s Federation celebrated 8th March ‘The International Women’s day’ (IWD), 2019 from 1th March to 15th March 2019 to create awareness on gender-balance and visibility of women at workplace. The theme given by ITF for IWD-2019, ‘This Is Our World Too’ and ‘Balance for Better’ was widely taken in the discussion to secure Women Workers’ Rights and equality in the world of work. During the fortnight various solidarity awareness programmes, talks, workshops, symposium, campaigns, rallies, welfare activities and networking events were organized in different parts of country by AIRF’s affiliates at their respective zones.
International Women’s Day comes on the heels of unprecedented global movement for women’s rights, equality and justice and also draw attention to the rights and activism of rural women, who make up over a quarter of the world population, and are being left behind in every measure of development.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day – 8th March, 2019, Honorable Gen. Secy. /AIRF Com. Shiva Gopal Mishra, delivered his message that Join us to transform the momentum into action, to empower women in all and to celebrate the activists who are working relentlessly to claim women’s rights and realize their full potential. He said, present time is tough for workers “AIRF, being free, democratic and an independent organization, will leave no stone unturned for the sake of the employees as well as Railway Industry, We are committed to fight for justice and right for the last employee in the Railway Industry. He attended several programme as much as possible to motivate women cadre. Hon’ble president AIRF Com. Rakhal Dass Gupta has also attended several progamme to bless and energies women fraternity with his experience and knowledge.
Several activities was done to create awareness and to sensitize people on atrocities against women and highlights of the heinous violence and harassment against women at working and public. Motivational, inspirational, confidence building, street play, debates, slogan/poster making and self defense workshops for women was prime method of campaign to reach balance for batter. Social activists, Sr. Leaders, Officials and young women achievers were invited to talk on the issues and boost up the morals to increase their participation to show the solidarity with the Trade union Movement. With the observation of ‘International Women’s Day 2019’ the awareness on gender related issues which includes equal opportunities and safe working environment, eliminate discrimination and violence against women at workplace was spread amongst the INDIAN RAILWAY WOMEN working all around the nation. Women’s Day is a reminder of vigilance and action required to ensure they gain and maintain equality in all aspects of life. Join us to transform the momentum into action, to empower women in all and to celebrate the activists who are working relentlessly to claim women’s rights and realize their full potential.
