No.AIRF/387 Dated: September 18, 2019

Hon’ble Minister for Railways,
Ministry of Railways,
Rail Bhawan,
New Delhi

Respected Sir,

Sub: Productivity Linked Bonus to Railwaymen for the Financial Year 2018-19

The Union Cabinet(Government of India) has decided for payment of 78-day Productivity Linked Bonus to Railway Employees.

We had discussed this issue with the Railway Board at the appropriate level, wherein we had requested for enhancement in the number of days for payment of PLB on account of enhanced productivity given by the Railway employees. These are the facts that, in the Financial Year 2018-19 Railwaymen had put their all out efforts for smooth and efficient running of 22,000 pairs of trains(passenger and freight) per day, carrying more than 2.5 crore passengers, and subsequently high volume of freight traffic which has broken the record and crossed the target fixed for the year. This has become possible only with dedicated and sincere service rendered by the Railway employees in spite of large number of vacancies. Railwaymen, working under arduous conditions in all the weathers had expected some enhanced PLB this year, but unfortunately, that has not been done.

Though we appreciate the efforts made by the Ministry of Railways for enhanced PLB to Railwaymen, it is our humble submission that, based on the productivity, Ministry of Railways should consider suitable compensation to Railwaymen for the performance they have given last year.

With Kind Regards,
