Railwaymen will observe “Black Day” on 06.02.2017 protesting against anti-labour orders of the Railway Board
New Delhi: 4th February, 2017 – General Secretary, All India Railwaymen’s Federation, Shri Shiva Gopal Mishra, while expressing serious anguish over issuance of Railway Board’s orders dated 30.01.2017, wherein, under para 4 Supervisors(GP Rs.4200 and above) working in the Safety Categories have been debarred to become office-bearer of the union/federation, said, “this is against the provisions of the Trade Union Act and ILO Convention 87 and cannot be tolerated since this is in contravention to the “Right to Unite”.
Shri Mishra added, “this step of the Railway Board is totally anti-labour and is a conspiracy of breaking the union/federation”. He further added, “these orders have been issued arbitrarily by the Railway Board without having any discussion/consultation with the organized labour, which indicates the dictatorial attitude of the Railway Board”.
Shri Mishra informed that, I met Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu on 3rd February, 2017 and handed him over a copy of our “Protest Letter” dated February 2, 2017.
He further informed that, “Black Day” will be observed on 6th February, 2017 all over the Indian Railways by the affiliates of AIRF by organizing rallies, demonstrations, gate meetings, demonstration, demanding immediate withdrawal of the aforementioned letter of the Railway Board, and if this letter of the Railway Board is not withdrawan immediately, the railwaymen will be compelled to take direct action.
