The Chairman,
Railway Board,
New Delhi
Dear Sir,
Sub: Deployment of the wards of the Railwaymen as “Gate Mitras” at the Unmanned Level Crossings
Though we are opposed to this scheme, because safety of the travelling public on Unmanned Level Crossings is not the responsibility of the Indian Railways, but because Indian Railways have taken the responsibility and formulated the scheme of deployment of the Gate Mitras at the Unmanned Level Crossings, it has been found that, often those
who have deployed are not performing their duties well and their absenteeism is also at the maximum level.
It is our suggestion that, deployment of the Gate Mitras should be made from the wards of the Trackmen, Mate, Keymen, Gatemen, Patrolmen of the same area, which will be much better because the wards of the Railwaymen will always have a more bond and their loyalty is unquestionable. This way they will also be getting support from their
parents who are well conversant from the duties on which they are deployed. Deploying the wards of the Railwaymen, particularly of the Engineering P. Way Department, may make this scheme satisfactory.
Hence, it is our humble submission that, the wards of the Railway employees be deployed as “Gate Mitras” at the Unmanned Level Crossings.
