Sub: Consideration of Ticket Checking Staff as “Running Staff”

Railway Board vide their letter No.ERB-I/2018/23/48 dated 28.11.2018 had constituted a committee, comprising of AM(Commercial) as Convener and AM(Staff) and PED(Finance) as Members, to examine the demand for consideration of Ticket Checking Staff as “Running Staff”. The Terms of Reference of the committee were as under:-

(i) Grant of Running Allowance to Ticket Checking Staff on the lines of Loco Pilots and Guards;

(ii) Creation of posts of Ticket Checking Staff in the same manner as that of Running Staff.

While tenure of the said committee was three months from the date of its constitution, this Federation (AIRF) has not so far been informed about the outcome/recommendations of the same.

In this connection, your kind attention is also invited towards our earlier letter of even number dated December 17, 2018, whereby it was requested that the committee should also consult AIRF while finalizing its recommendations.

Various segments of Ticket Checking Staff are persistently demanding that they should be brought under the purview of payment of “Running Allowance”, as they have to perform duty on running trains, and in no way their duties are of lesser importance than that of Traffic Running Staff.

AIRF is, therefore, of the considered view that the demand of Ticket Checking Staff, for grant of “Running Allowance”, should be considered favourably and necessary instructions to this effect be issued at an early date.
