Dear Brother,
I was invited by the Railway Section of ITF to join Noel cord, Section Secretary, Rail and Road and Ruwan Director, Legal to be part of the ITF Mission to get Justice for Thai rail & aviation workers. The ITF mission to Thailand has met with Mr Kritthep Simlee from the Transport Ministry to call for immediate action in the case of workers persecuted to exposing safety failings. He had promised that a committee has been constituted to find out ways to resolve the issue.
ITF Mission also met the Labour Minister of Thailand requesting him to intervene and do justice to the SRUT leaders.

We highlighted the plight of  the leaders of the Thailand’s State Railway Workers Union(SRUT) who have faced dismissals and enormous fines (approximately USD 716,216)because of their efforts to point out unsafe working conditions on the country’s Railways.

We also demanded to drop all the charges against them and all claims against the SRUT leaders immediately and repay all deduction of pensions and salaries and return all benefits and back pay due to seven SRUT leaders for their unfair dismissal.
The outcome of the meeting was very positive and he promised to meet the SRUT leaders shortly and find an early solution.
