Reply given by the Railway Board, vide their letter referred to above, is neither convincing nor appropriate. Railway employees can always seek reversion to next lower grade with a view to avail opportunity of lateral promotion to other departments/depots, which in our opinion, should not be denied…….

No.AIRF/78(147) Dated: July 30, 2019

The Secretary(E),

Railway Board,

New Delhi

Dear Sir,

Sub: Lateral induction of Trackmen to other categories and depots
Ref.: Railway Board’s letter No.E(NG)I-2019/CFP/6 dated 25.07.2019

This is in continuation to AIRF’s letter of even number dated 25th June, 2019 on the above subject.

Reply given by the Railway Board, vide their letter referred to above, is neither convincing nor appropriate. Railway employees can always seek reversion to next lower grade with a view to avail opportunity of lateral promotion to other departments/depots, which in our opinion, should not be denied.

Board are, therefore, requested to review their decision, and those Trackmen in Grade Pay of Rs.1900, who exercise their option to go to other departments/ depots under lateral induction, seeking reversion to GP Rs.1800, should always be permitted to do so, so as to facilitate their career advancement, which is otherwise quite meager.
