No.AIRF/24(C) Dated: September 26, 2019

The Chairman,

Railway Board.

New Delhi

Dear Sir,

Sub: Privatization of train operations

Ref.: Railway Board’s letter No.2019/Chg/22/ dated 23.09.2019

It has come to the notice of this Federation that a meeting has been called in Rail Board on 27th September, 2019 of the PCOMs of CR/Mumbai, NR/DLI, NCR/ALD, SER/Kolkata, SCR/SC, SR/ Chennai, in order to prepare RFQ and Concession Documents for privatizing 150 odd trains on important routes of the Indian Railways, which is highly objectionable. AIRF has always opposed all sorts of privatization on the Indian Railways in the last meeting held with the Full Board on 2nd July, 2019. You had promised that, any such step which will lead to privatization will be first discussed with the Federations, but is unfortunate that, such a big decision is being taken by the Railway Board without any consultation, which will lead to confrontation.

It is, therefore, requested that, any such move of privatization of trains on important routes should immediately be stopped, and in case of any need Federation has always ready for discussions at any moment.
