Subject: International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention on Violence and Harassment in the world of work – reg.
Sir,
Please refer to your letter No.AIRF/31-D(G) dated 5-3-2019 requesting therein Government of India to support a ‘New ILO Convention on Violence and Harassment’ at the 1o8th Session (June 2019) of the International Labour Conference, Geneva.
2. In this context, it is stated that Government of India has supported for adoption of instrument in the form of a Convention supplemented by a Recommendation as two separate instruments in its reply sent to ILO on the questionnaire concerning “Ending Violence and harassment against women and men in the World of Work” vide letter dated 28-9-2017.
3. The second discussion on the standard setting item “Ending  violence and harassment in the world of work” is scheduled to take place in the 1 oat Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva in June, 2019. Government of India officers would be attending the discussions. Based on the second discussion, the proposed
instrument would be adopted by the ILC provided 2/3rd of the Member states vote in favour of it.
