The Secretary(E),
Railway Board,
New Delhi

Dear Sir,

Sub: Granting of 16% HRA to Railway Employees working at Jatni/Khurda Road(ECoRSU)

Khurda Road Jn. is the cornerstone of rail traffic in Odisha as Khurda Road-Puri Section was opened to traffic on 1st February, 1897 even prior to opening of Bengal-Nagpur Railway line to Cuttack on 1st January, 1899. As the days passed by, Bhubaneswar took prominence as the Capital City of Odisha. However, today Bhubaneswar ity itself does not have space to accommodate projects of immense value and therefore have broadened its horizon to locate prominent projects needing large acres of land. One such prestigious project is IIT, NISER, Bhubaneswar, which is practically located at Jatni-Khurda Road.

While staff of the IIT, NISER working from Jatni-Khurda Road use to get 16% HRA, it is utterly disparaging for the Railway employees working at Jatni-Khurda Road to get 8% HRA. This kind of disparity between two kinds of Central Government Employees is hampering the optimism bias of the Railway employees working at Jatni-Khurda Road and also propelling them towards depression and cynicism.

Board are, therefore, requested to award justice to Railway employees working at Jatni-Khurda Road by granting them 16% HRA as applicable to the employees of the IIT, NISER.
